An Overview on Zika Virus
Abstract
The Zika virus(ZIKV) was discovered in 1947 and is spread by Aedes mosquitoes. Multiple Zika virus outbreaks are being reported in other countries since then. Fever, joint discomfort, red eyes, headache, and a maculopapular rash are all common symptoms, and the virus is spread mostly by Aedes mosquitoes. The chance of microcephaly along with other fatal brain defects in pregnant women infected with ZIKV is among the most serious effects of ZIKV infection. With the right kind of knowledge, this is a disease that can be avoided entirely. Here, we take a look back at all we know about Zika virus: how it spreads, how it causes disease, what symptoms it shows up in, and how to stop it.
Key Words: Aedes mosquitoes, maculopapular rash, microcephaly.
